Hobie Kayaks
Prerequisites: Ability to swim
Learn basic paddling technique while commanding your own Hobie sit-on-top kayak. Students explore the waters surrounding Greenwich Point while learning about marine wildlife. Each day brings a new destination and activity, such as relay races and on-the-water games. Awards for "shipshape" sailor awarded on last day of class.

Stand Up Paddle Boards &
Hobie Kayaks

Older juniors divided their on the water time between single handed kayaking and Stand-Up Paddleboarding - the latest rage in paddling. Students explore the waters surrounding Old Greenwich Yacht Club while learning about marine wildlife. Each day brings a new destination and activity, such as relay races and treasure hunts. Awards for "shipshape" sailor awarded on last day of class.

14 ft. Hobie Waves
Prerequisites: Basic Sailing
GCS's entry level class for catamaran sailing, students consolidate fundamental Basic Sailing skills while mastering multihull handling techniques on cat-rigged Hobie Waves. Sailing in groups of 2 or 3, students experience the speed of these fast-moving thoroughbreds of beach boat sailing. Award for "shipshape sailor" presented on the last day of class.

Prerequisites: Introduction to Catamaran Sailing
Pick up where Intro to Catamaran Sailing leaves off but with bigger, faster sloop-rigged Hobie Getaways. Students continue to polish multi-hull techniques while learning the theory behind catamaran speed and how to maximize performance. Expect to get wet. Award for "shipshape sailor" presented on the last day of class.

14' Lasers
Prerequisites: Advanced Sailing
The traditional highlight of the summer, Racing Techniques attracts the best sailors of the Junior Program. Students participate in a weeklong regatta to improve their skills and compete against eachother. Instructors coach students throughout the week to improve starts, technique, and strategy. Standings are posted daily for racers to see. Regatta winner receives a trophy. Trophies awarded for runner-up and third place as well.
