At Greenwich Community Sailing, our classes are remarkably small to insure that you, the student, will get the greatest results. Our classroom lectures are dynamic, and extremely effective, setting the stage for the hours spent out on the water.
While out on the water, we maintain a maximum of a three to one student to instructor ratio; the smallest class size in the industry. An instructor is on every keelboat, constantly offering feedback and encouragement, answering any questions while teaching you the proper techniques the first time, and accelerating the learning process.
Our proven curriculum is a compilation of some of the worlds best schools methods, constantly being updated and refined to keep up with the latest in teaching techniques. Our courses are rigorous, highly structured, progressive, and a lot of fun. These courses are guaranteed learn to sail. We will go out of our way to get you sailing on your own with confidence.
After completing Adult Basic Sailing, and Adult Intermediate Sailing you will earn Small Boat Sailor Certification. These courses will provide a solid foundation, teaching you the essential skills you will need to command a boat on your own.
To get the most out of these courses, it is ideal to take these first two courses in the same season. You will still feel confident taking intermediate the season after taking Basic, but if you skip a year without practice, you will not be ready. It is recommended that you repeat Adult Basic Sailing, and/or take private lessons as a refresher.
Adult Keelboat courses require a certain level of sailing comprehension. Because of this, Small Boat Sailing Certification is a pre-requisite. This course is designed for experienced sailors who have an interest in sailing larger keelboats, and possibly are looking to purchase their own boat. Upon satisfactory completion of this course, you can join our “Club Sail” program.
